GENeTyC provides specialized services of genetic characterization (Genotyping) with the aim to optimize crop breeding programs.
The services carried out in this lab include DNA isolation and genotyping using SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism markers) according to KASP technology (Kompetitive Alelle Specific PCR). This system is the most suitable for marker assisted selection and it allows to accelerate breeding programs, increasing crop productivity in a sustainable way.

BENEFITS OF GENOTYPING SERVICES
Genotyping services are conducted through a cutting edge technology that uses SNP molecular markers over a KASP technology platform. This system is the most widely used by the main seed companies specialized in genetic breeding.
KASP system is one of the most flexible and suitable systems for marker assisted selection. It allows working on large scale at low cost. Results are fast and of easy interpretation.
It can be used either for numerous SNPs in a low number of samples or for few SNPs in several samples.
It is a useful tool for disease resistance gene selection.
EQUIPMENT
Our lab has a complete platform for processing high throughput samples with state-of-the-art equipment. To this end, it includes a multimode plate reader for high yield PHERAstar Plus, UV spectrophotometers for microplates, refrigerated centrifuges, a dual thermocycler, among other instruments.
