The main objective of this group is to evaluate the effects of biotic and abiotic stresses at molecular level in sunflower and durum wheat, with the main goal of identifying new resistance sources. 

We use transcriptomics technologies, such as RNA-seq, to  study the cold response in Triticum durum in collaboration with INTA Chacra Barrow. Also in the identification of candidate genes for resistance to Fusarium in durum wheat.

Lines of Research

  • Mildew control on sunflower including the analysis of Plasmopara halstedii genetic variability and race determination, pathogen molecular detection in plant seed and search for resistance sources.

  • Transcriptomic profile analysis of the response to cold stress in durum wheat via ARN-Seq.

  • Identification of genes responsible for resistance to Fusarium in durum wheat spikes (differential expression analysis and mapping).

  • Evaluation of Panicum coloratum var makarikariense as a pasture alternative in the southwest of Buenos Aires province, Argentina.
